SUMMARY: Reporting to the Fitness Coordinator, the Fitness Team Lead provides leadership to the Weightroom Attending and Fitness Instructor team along with supervision of Weightroom facilities and Fitness programs in the absence of the Fitness Coordinator and Fitness Program Assistant.  Duties and responsibilities include providing leadership and guidance to the Weight Room Attendant and Fitness Instructors on shift, supervising the Weightroom and Fitness Studio operations and programs. The Fitness Team Lead will assist in finding coverage for classes and shifts as needed and cover classes and orientations as required. Come join us ~ it’s the perfect place to work & play!

The Fitness Team Lead is responsible for day-to-day provision of customer service including Weightroom and Fitness Studio supervision and liaison with other departments to provide support including Reception, Aquatics, Sports and Maintenance.

 

JOB DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provides leadership and guidance to Weightroom & Fitness Instructor staff, in the absence of the Fitness Coordinator and Fitness Program Assistant
  • Provides supervision of Weightroom floor and Fitness programs with excellent customer service.
  • Ability to problem solve for issues and incidents that may occur independently and escalates when appropriate.
  • Discuss issues and concerns with participants regarding classes and programs, seeking proactive, customer-centered solutions.
  • Ensures facility policies, procedures and regulations are implemented and adhered to.
  • Ensures proper documentation is completed for any accidents and incidents.
  • Ability to assist in other roles including teaching or subbing fitness programs when necessary.
  • Assists Fitness Coordinator with new and existing employee training and orientations.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as printing class lists, schedules, data entry and tracking attendance
  • Assists with inventory management of equipment and first aid supplies.
  • Assists with equipment safety checks and specialized preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Contacts participants in the event of class or personal training cancellations.
  • Provides ‘first contact’ customer service by assisting patrons and visitors, providing information, directing to appropriate staff, providing equipment orientations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma and a minimum of two years’ experience as a Weightroom Attendant, Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and reliability with the ability to provide exceptional customer service; conflict resolution skills, ability to defuse and create solutions.
  • Must possess excellent communication (interpersonal and written), customer service and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, set priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to be flexible, decisive and deal with constantly changing work patterns and priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Computer skills including Outlook, Word and Excel are required.
  • Working knowledge of Intelligenz software application is an asset.
  • Knowledge of recreation/leisure program activities desirable.
  • Ability to work a variety of shifts, including days, afternoons, evenings, weekdays, and weekends as required for operational needs.

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

  • Current registration with BCRPA (or equivalent): Weight Training, Personal Training and Fitness Instructor
  • Emergency First Aid/CPR C
