SALARY:   $30.14 per hour + 14% in lieu of benefits = $34.36 per hour
CLASSIFICATION: JB08, Instructional Team Leader I 
HOURS OF WORK: Shifts may vary including evenings starting at 4:00PM, and weekend coverage. Must be able to work a variety of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts to meet operational needs.

Position Overview

We also offer staff a free membership for drop in to the weightroom, pool, skating rink, and drop-in fitness classes, and the ability to play on our 9-hole golf course. Job Duties & Accountabilities

Instructors ensure program content and music are appropriate for the class, and exercises are safe and suitable for the level of participants. Fitness class formats include indoor cycling, boot camp, circuit training, strength and conditioning, low impact cardio, parent and tot, and others. Instructors are responsible for setup/clean-up of class equipment and promotion of fitness programs and services.

 

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a group fitness instructor (BCRPA, Canfitpro, CSEP, ACE, ACSM, Canada Fitness Education Services, NFLA or approved equivalent).
  • Indoor cycling certification is required.
  • Minimum one-year experience instructing safe group fitness classes.
  • Lesson planning, strong communication and organizational skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience in public relations, professionalism, and strong customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work co-operatively in a team environment, as well as to work independently.
  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C/AED is required.

West Shore Parks & Recreation Society (WSPRS) is pleased to offer a comprehensive benefit package for Regular full-time and part-time employees, and 14% in lieu of benefits coverage for Auxiliary employees. All employees are offered a complimentary pass to our facility for drop in use of the weightroom, pool, skating rink and some drop-in fitness classes. Limited use of the golf course is also included with the facility pass.
