Position Overview
West Shore Parks & Recreation is looking for dedicated, passionate, and energetic staff to join our afterschool care team as a CLASS 4* unrestricted bus driver. Join us in contributing to a high-quality program that supports children and families of the Westshore. We also offer flexible work schedules and opportunities to cross train and work in other areas, if desired.
In addition to excellent wages, we offer an additional 14% in pay, per hour, in lieu of benefits; access to counselling services; a staff facility membership pass to drop into the weightroom, fitness classes, skating, and pool; as well as the ability to play on our 9-hole golf course.
Job Duties and Accountabilities
- This position is responsible for driving a 24-passenger bus to pick up kids in the Westshore after school each day and bring them back on-site to the JDF recreation centre.
- Adaptable to new and changing programs and people.
- Ability to problem-solve and seek solutions.
- Communication and organizational skills required.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Qualifications
- Current CLASS 4* unrestricted drivers’ license is required.
- As a licensed care program, candidates must be a minimum of 19 years of age.
- Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C certification is required.
- Skills, knowledge, and experience driving busses.
- Experience working with children is an asset.
A clear and current criminal record check is a condition of employment (employer initiated) and is the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
