$30.14 per hour + 14% in lieu of benefits = $34.35 per hour! In addition to the above wage, WSPRS participates in the Early Childhood Educator Wage Enhancement (ECE-WE) and all staff who hold a valid ECE working in licensed childcare receive the additional $6.00 per hour paid on hours worked. |

Position Overview
We're looking looking for friendly and enthusiastic instructors to lead summer programs for children aged 4–5. You will plan and guide fun, creative activities and make sure every child feels safe, comfortable, and included.
Employees also receive access to counselling and a staff facility pass, which provides drop-in use of the weightroom, fitness classes, skating, the pool and our 9-hole golf course.
Job Duties and Accountabilities
- Leads engaging preschool activities such as crafts, sports, games, outdoor play, and special events.
- Adapts to changing plans or situations, and modifies activities to suit different ages, needs and abilities.
- Ensures all children feel safe, included, and supported.
- Ensures toys and equipment are maintained with respect to safety and sanitary standards, and reports hazards promptly.
- Sets up and cleans up activity area to ensure safety and well-being of children at all times.
- Provides a balance of active and passive activities in a safe, welcoming environment.
- Follows all safety, privacy and emergency procedures.
- Oversees and manages the daily sign-in and sign-out process to ensure that safety procedures are followed when children are released from program.
- Completes required documentation such as attendance logs or incident reports, as needed.
- Communicates respectfully, and builds positive relationships with children, families, coworkers and supervisors
- Independently addresses minor issues or concerns and consults with the supervisor regarding any progress-related matters or recommendations.
- Works indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, including sun, heat, and light rain.
- Performs tasks of similar scope and complexity as required.
Qualifications
- A current/valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certification is required.
- As a licensed program, candidates must be a minimum of 19 years of age.
- Minimum of 180 hours of direct experience planning and implementing programs for preschool children in a licensed childcare or recreation setting is required.
- Emergency First Aid and CPR C certificate is required.
- Note: CPR B is the minimum requirement for working in childcare positions. If applying for positions at WSPR outside of childcare, CPR C may be required.
- Experience with program organization, planning, implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to walk up to 1 km per day and work outdoors in all kinds of weather including heat, wind, rain.
- Ability to be flexible and creative while ensuring a safe, healthy, and engaging environment for children.
- Ability to work independently and as part of team.
