Position Overview
We're looking for a skilled Pottery Technician and SUB Instructor to assist in the pottery studio located at Centennial Centre. Under the supervision of the Arts & Culture Programmer, this position ensures the studio is prepared for the enjoyment and satisfaction of all patrons. The successful candidate will be responsible for firing and operating all kilns, mixing and maintaining glazes, and ordering and organizing studio supplies. The successful candidate will demonstrate knowledge in the technical aspects of maintaining a functional and safe pottery studio and possess strong communication skills and pottery knowledge to assist studio users as required. In addition, this exciting position has opportunities in the future for additional hours and responsibilities.

Job Duties and Accountabilities
- Previous experience working in a pottery studio is an asset (including mixing glazes, loading, and unloading kilns).
- Current Emergency First Aid with CPR C/AED certificate is required.
- Thorough knowledge of the principals and practices of pottery studio operations.
- Ability to lift 60+ pounds.
- Experience repairing and maintaining kilns is an asset.
- Experience providing pottery instruction is an asset.
- Ability to be imaginative and flexible to ensure a fun environment is created for all participants.
- Ability to problem-solve and work both independently, and in a team environment.
Qualifications
- Emergency First Aid and CPR C certificate is required.
- Class 5 BC Driver’s license is required.
- CLASS 4* unrestricted drivers’ license is an asset.
- Previous experience leading programs is required.
- Preference will be given to those applicants who have some post-secondary training in recreation, youth, childcare or a related field.
- Arts, crafts, and face painting experience is an asset.
