HOURS OF WORK: Anticipated schedule is Wednesday to Sunday, up to 8 hours per day, typically between 7:00 AM–3:00 PM or 8:00 AM–4:00 PM, depending on season and weather. Schedule may include weekends, weekdays, or evenings to meet operational needs. Hours may be adjusted due to weather-related course closures.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the Arena & Events Coordinator, the Golf Pro Shop Team Leader will provide quality customer service to golfers, pickleball and tennis players as well as visitors to the pro shop; perform operational activities related to the pro shop merchandise and POS systems; coordinate auxiliary staff scheduling; and coordinate general golf course marshaling and assisting with tournaments.

Employees also receive limited access to the golf course with this pass.

Job Duties and Accountabilities

  • Provides information to patrons on golf, pickleball, tennis and golf tournaments to the general public.
  • Coordinates golf operations in accordance with established policy such as assigning play of golfers, collecting green fees, signage, scheduling and assisting in the coordination of golf tournaments and other special activities as needed.
  • Operates the cash register, POS system, interact machine and office computer. Maintains float, prepares cash deposits, and reconciles cash.
  • Sells golf pro shop merchandise, food and beverages.
  • Maintains and cleans pro-shop, golf rentals, merchandise and set up retail displays.
  • Monitors stock of pro shop; merchandise, materials, snacks and beverages and orders to replenish.
  • Books and collects fees for pickleball and tennis courts as requested.
  • Calculate attendance figures, collect, chart and maintain statistics when requested.
  • Assist in scheduling staff to cover auxiliary shifts.
  • Assists in hiring and training pro shop staff.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and one year of experience working in leadership role.
  • “Serving it Right” certificate is required.
  • Experience working in a golf course and knowledge of golf, pickleball and tennis rules and etiquette.
  • Experience working with Windows software such as Outlook, MS Word, Excel.
  • Experience in retail with exposure to ordering, re-stocking and inventory.
  • Experience handling cash and processing cash transactions.
  • Experience working with POS systems, office routines and procedures related to filing, record keeping and clerical operations.
  • Ability to be tactful, demonstrate good judgment, and exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and effectively and efficiently complete required work.
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other staff and the general public. 
  • Experience using a Recreation system is an asset.
  • Experience organizing golf tournaments or sporting events an asset.
