Position Overview

We’re looking for exceptional staff to deliver exciting recreation opportunities to the children and youth of the Westshore. Programs encourage participants to cultivate friendships and experience a wide variety of activities while developing lifetime skills. Under the direction of the Sport and Youth Programmer, Youth Program Leaders are responsible for the organization and implementation of a variety of programs including you drop-in and sports, Home Alone courses, Red Cross Babysitter courses, Cooking for Fun, and the Dungeons and Dragons club.

This opportunity has an emphasis on supporting the Dungeons and Dragons club. Previous experience leading Dungeons & Dragons campaigns is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C/AED certification is required.
  • Previous experience leading youth programs.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and public relations skills are required.
  • Post-secondary education or training in recreation, child and youth care, or a related field is an asset .

West Shore Parks & Recreation operates 7 days a week, and employees may be required to work days, weekends, evenings and statutory holidays to meet operational requirements. West Shore Parks & Recreation Society (WSPRS) is pleased to offer a comprehensive benefit package for Regular full-time and part-time employees, and 14% in lieu of benefits coverage for Auxiliary employees. All employees are offered a complimentary pass to our facility for drop in use of the weightroom, pool, skating rink and some drop-in fitness classes. Limited use of the golf course is also included with the facility pass.
